RoadRUNNER’s Bucket List Roads: Sequoia NP LoopThis loop begins and ends in Three Rivers, CA (approximately 100 miles north of Bakersfield), and follows State Routes 198, 180, 245, and 216. Due to substantial elevation and temperature changes, riders may encounter snow or ice. Also, be alert for the possibility of wildlife entering the roadway.

Scenery: Large rock formations, mountains, valleys, sweeping vistas, and the giant (up to 300 feet tall) sequoias in Sequoia National Park provide a feast for the eyes. The western section of the loop descends into a more arid landscape.

Curves: All but the last 20 miles or so is nothing but curves, many of which are hairpins and switchbacks.

Traffic: Traffic can be heavy on weekends and during the summer months.

Distance: Approximately 105 miles.

Time Required: Three hours to all day, depending on frequency and length of stops.

Technical Difficulty: Challenging curves and substantial elevation changes, especially inside Sequoia NP.
