2014 MV Agusta Brutale 800 DragsterThe press kit for the new Brutale 800 Dragster is about as Italian as they come with multiple references to things like “emotional freedom” and “motorcycling passion” along with the obligatory personification of the motorcycle as some sort of pre-historic monster. They can’t help it. This is, after all, the country that has produced some of the world’s most treasured works of art and literature not to mention their food and very fast red cars. The new MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster is a fine addition to the Italian people’s impressive list of cultural exports.

As its name implies, the Dragster is closely related to the Brutale 800 and indeed the two bikes share most of the same components. These include the high-end Marzocchi forks, Brembo brakes, chassis dimensions, and the 798cc inline three-cylinder engine, which seems to be in an identical state of tune. The differences appear to center around a massive 200-section rear tire, bobbed tail, and new handlebars.
