World’s Fastest BMW

World's Fastest BMWAs motorcyclists, there’s a good chance that for most of us, somewhere deep down (or perhaps not so deep) there’s an abiding interest in speed. Most of us will admit to (or brag about) certain times we’ve piloted our steeds into the triple digits. (All on track days, of course.) So it’s always interesting when someone breaks a speed record, or does something similarly daring that we can all nod our heads in respect to.

One such feat was accomplished on August 16, 2013 when Andy Sills rode his BMW S 1000 RR to an average speed of 224.19 miles per hour in the timed mile at the speed junkies holy-land, the Bonneville Salt Flats. Not surprisingly, his speed sets the high mark for all BMW motorcycles. San Diego BMW Motorcycles prepped this particular S 1000 RR for the attempt, and the record setting run was the bike’s first appearance at the SCTA Speed Week. Three cheers for speed!
