2014 Honda CTX ModelsWith another week comes another new model from Big Red, or so it’s starting to seem. This weekend’s announcement of the new CTX product line at the International Motorcycle Show in Chicago marks the sixth (and technically seventh) all new motorcycle the company has rolled out this year. CTX stands for Comfort, Technology, and eXperience and it is part of Honda’s aggressive strategy of making high quality, practical motorcycles at extremely attractive prices. The CTX lineup borrows its 670cc parallel twin from the NC700 along with its traditional six-speed and DCT (dual clutch) transmission choices. The CTX will come in two flavors the “naked” CTX700N and the faired CTX700 both will be available with either a standard six-speed transmission, or, for $1000 more, with the DCT and ABS (unfortunately you still can’t get ABS without getting the DCT). Both models are designed to once again lower the barriers keeping new riders from hitting the road. The two CTX models both feature a low 28.3-inch seat height and, especially with the optional DCT, there’s not much to intimidate a new rider, including the price. The CTX700N starts at an impressively low $6999 with the CTX700 only slightly more at $7799.
