Two Wheels Good – Motorcycle Support of Bicycle Races

May 25, 2012 View Comments by

Motorcycles play an important role in bicycle racing, carrying spare wheels, taking photographers into the heart of the action, and providing real time race information and traffic control. There are usually cars on the course as well, but motorcycles are particularly suited to staying close to the cyclists and weaving their way to where they need to be. VeloNews has a short video featuring the motorcycle marshals of the recently completed Amgen Tour of California (the country’s biggest bicycle race) with a brief review of the bikes and gear used.

We also did a piece on Motorcycle Marshals several years ago

Next time you’re out sharing the road with a cyclist, give them a friendly wave.
