US GS Adventure Trophy Team Selected

The world-famous biennial International GS Trophy returns in November, with three riders selected from each of several countries around the world. Riders will compete on new R 1200 GS bikes for victory in a vicious series of off-road competitions and challenges in exotic and faraway South Africa.

Three BMW GS riders were been selected from the USA for this once-in-a-lifetime, all expenses paid trip. Their selection was made during the Adventure Riders/GS Challenge at the RawHyde Adventures facility near Gorman (just north of Los Angeles, CA) from April 29 – May 2. This year’s “Double Jeopardy” event at RawHyde was revamped to include two sequences: the Adventure Riders Challenge, open to all enduro riders, and the GS Challenge qualifier from which three BMW riders were selected to compete in South Africa.

In 2008, the high-stakes competition between riders representing five countries took place in the burning sands of Tunisia and was won by Team USA.

This year the US Team winners were selected from 65 competitors who thrilled 110 spectators during the two day event.

The scores were not too close for first place as the winner was nearly 50 points ahead of second placebut 2nd through 6th place were6apart.

The winners of the competition and the 2010 USA GS Trouphy team members are:
1st place – Iain Glynn – Seattle Washington
2nd place – Bill Dragoo -Norman Oklahoma
3rd place – Shannon Markle – Laramie, Wyoming
