Dual Sport Shamrock Tour Makes a Great Birthday Surprise
My husband Jason turned 40 on June 12, 2009 and I wanted to plan a surprise-riding trip.
He loves your magazine and has been nagging me to try one of the Shamrock Tours. I knew there were a few within driving distance and since I had recently bought my own Dual Sport, I thought it’d be nice to take both our bikes along on this four-day weekend.
I pulled out the magazines (he keeps them all) and found the tour in Coshocton, OH, not far from where we are in PA. I used the maps, GPS coordinates (new GPS unit was also included in his birthday package), stayed at the same hotel and dined at the some of the same restaurants. The information you listed in the article made planning pretty effortless and the ride was great!
The staff at Coshocton Village Inn provided me with the local bakery number so that I could order Jason a birthday cake, even waited until we were gone and set it up in our room. We could not see our bike trailer from the window so they let us park behind the building in the employee parking.
We really lucked up when we noticed a Corvette rally at Roscoe Village and when we ran into a car cruise at the Quaker Steak and Lube on our way home. These events were an added bonus for my husband who is a huge motor head!
My birthday is September 11th and our anniversary is October 19th so we have at least two more long weekends to plan. We’re looking at past RoadRUNNER articles for ideas. We want to ride the bikes to Gettysburg this weekend; we’ll have to see if there are any tours listed. We love the magazine, keep it coming!
