The BMW MOA Foundation, the educational arm of the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America, is pleased to announce Camp GEARS 2009. Camp GEARS (Gaining Early Advance Riding Skills) is designed for young motorcyclists age 16-26, and is a two-day event held in conjunction with the BMW MOA’s ‘Mountain Magic – Southern Style’ 2009 International Rally in Johnson City TN. Camp GEARS, a ‘rally within a rally,’ is held the two days prior (July 14-15) to the beginning of the actual Mountain Magic Rally.

Camp GEARS gives young riders an opportunity to hang out with other riders from all over North America. Campers attend a variety of seminars discussing motorcycling, safer riding, touring, breakdowns, weather, routing, adventure touring and a great deal more. Campers will be able to participate in the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Experienced RiderCourse to sharpen their physical and mental riding skills, and attend a variety of social events.

But perhaps the best part of all, Camp GEARS is free. Campers travel to Johnson City at their own expense and those under are 18 must obtain permission from a parent or guardian, and should be accompanied to the Rally by a responsible adult. Campers may arrive on any brand of motorcycle, or no motorcycle at all. Campers will tent-camp in the Camp GEARS area, and will be invited to remain for the actual Mountain Magic Rally at no cost, as well.

Many campers from prior years report that Camp GEARS is the highlight of the year for them. If you have attended Camp GEARS in the past, plan now to attend in 2009, and renew old friendships. If you are a young motorcyclist, and enjoy riding, touring, adventure, learning and fun, plan now to attend the 2009 event. Registration information will shortly be available in the BMW MOA’s monthly publication, the ‘BMW Owners News. You may contact BMW MOA Foundation Headquarters for more information; call Ray or Tammy at: (636) 394-7277. To find out more online, visit www.bmwmoafoundation.org or www.bmwmoa.org.
